Disputes among GNA’s presidential and Islamist militias over the field situation

The Libyan Address Journal

Disputes have arisen among the Presidency Council and a number of Islamist militias affiliated with the GNA Forces over the field situation, identical sources close to the Presidency Council of the Tripoli-based “National Accord” Government said.

“Vice-President of the Presidential Council, Ahmed Maiteeq, has contacted the GNA Operations Room east of Misrata in order to ask them not to rush in the progress towards Sirte, which is controlled by the Libyan National Army, but that the operations room refused his request and said it only takes orders from battalions commanders,” the sources indicated.

The al-Samoud brigade, which is led by the internationally sanctioned militant, Salah Badi, has also announced that it rejects any ceasefire and will continue the war until “liberating all Libyan soil, at whatever cost.”
