Conte and Sisi discuss Libya during lengthy call

ROME – Italy’s Prime Minister, Giuseppe Conte, and Egypt’s President, Abdel Fattah El Sisi, discussed the situation in Libya during a long phone conversation, the Italian government said on Sunday.

According to a statement from Palazzo Chigi, Conte had “a long telephone conversation” today with El Sisi, during which the two leader discussed “regional stability” with particular emphasis on “the need for a rapid ceasefire and return to the negotiating table in Libya.”

Italy had already announced its support for a peace initiate in Libya, which was unveiled yesterday by El Sisi.
