SIRTE – The Libyan National Army (LNA) air defenses shot down on Monday a Turkish drone in Wadi Jarif area, west of Sirte.

The Turkish drone was trying to target the locations of LNA forces, said LNA Military Information Division.

It is noteworthy that LNA Air Force fighters destroyed, at dawn on Monday, an entire artillery detachment of Fayez al-Sarraj government’s (GNA) armed groups, backed by Turkey, as they were moving towards Sirte, killing a number of Turkish officers and Syrian mercenaries, according to LNA Military Information Division.

The Military Information Division said in a statement, “Our fighters destroyed a entire artillery detachment that included three Turkish-made howitzers, two tanks, and six armed protection vehicles, in addition to a large bus.

It added that the monitoring sources of LNA confirmed that they were carrying a number of Turkish officers and Syrian mercenaries, noting that “their bodies embraced the sand after they started the reckless movement towards Sirte, which will be safe and reassured despite the plight of the Turkish invaders and their militias.”

LNA fighters have also targeted GNA armed groups in eastern Misurata, to stop their attempt to advance to Sirte.

The Military Information Division had announced that “LNA carried out several air strikes targeting gatherings of the Turkish-backed militia forces in the axes of east Misrata.”
