Discrediting claims of fleeing abroad, Field Marshal Haftar meets with German Ambassador in Libya

The Address | Benghazi – Libya

BENGHAZI – Field Marshall
Khalifa Haftar, the General Commander of the Libyan National Army (LNA), held a meeting on Wednesday with Germany’s ambassador to Libya, Oliver Owcza, to discuss the latest developments in the country.

Military escalation in western Libya and the talks of the 5+5 Joint Military Committee were at the center of the talks between Field Marshal Haftar and Owcza.

“In today’s meeting with Gen Haftar I expressed concern about ongoing military confrontations and their worrisome impact on civilian population,” Owcza tweeted.

“I encouraged a constructive resumption of 5+5 talks towards a reliable ceasefire, thereby also addressing structural security concerns,”

This comes after several media outlets loyal to the Tripoli-based Government of National Accord (GNA) and the Muslim Brotherhood published a series of fabricated reports, some of which claimed that Field Marshal Haftar has fled to Venezuela, while others claimed that he is held under “a temporary house arrest in Cairo ahead of new phase after which he will be replaced”.
