UAE-EU talks to stop Turkish interference in Libya

ABU DHABI – UAE Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan discussed with the European High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security, Josep Borrell, ways to stop Turkish interference in the Arab world.

The two sides confirmed, during a phone call Thursday, that “the Turkish role in its current manner in the Arab world is not welcome and that its implications will be negative if Turkey continues this policy.”

The two sides indicated that “foreign interference in Libya not only causes harm to Libya, but also to neighboring countries and the entire region.”

The Foreign Minister of UAE stressed “the importance of concerted efforts of the international community to reach a Libyan-Libyan solution to the current crisis.”

He praised in this regard the “determined efforts made by Egypt to reach a political solution to the Libyan crisis, which stems from its desire to stabilize Libya.”

During the contact, the two sides discussed UAE-European relations, developments in the region and a number of regional and international issues of common concern, including Libya and Sudan.
