Africa Intelligence: Washington seeks behind the scenes to keep Williams as a UN envoy to Libya

Africa Intelligence website has revealed that the United States is working behind the scenes to form a dual leadership of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya, to keep the position of the current acting head of mission, Stephanie Williams.

“The United States is working behind the scenes to set up a dual leadership of the UN’s mission in Libya and, as one of many players in a complex game of three-dimensional chess, to maintain US national Stephanie Williams in place,” the website said.

Africa Intelligence affirmed that UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres struggles from a power struggle between Americans on the one hand, and Russians on the other, and is faces challenges in coming up with a candidate for the position of Special Representative in Libya.
