French Defense Minister calls on Turkey to respect arms embargo imposed on Libya

The Address | Benghazi – Libya

French Defense Minister Florence Parly called on Turkey to respect the arms embargo imposed on Libya, stressing that Libya’s stability is important to her country and affects the security situation in the Mediterranean and Europe.

Parley emphasized in a radio interview on the French National Day, that there is no military solution in Libya, and called on everyone to work towards a political solution.

The minister’s statements came after French President Emmanuel Macron’s demand to stop the flow of arms and mercenaries to Libya, calling for an immediate resumption of the dialogue for a ceasefire.

He said, “There can be no lasting peace in the Mediterranean without Europe, and we cannot accept that our destiny be decided by foreign countries.”

Macron stressed, “Libya’s stability is essential for the security of Europe and the African Sahel region. There is no military solution to the Libyan crisis, and I call for the immediate resumption of dialogue and the start of the political process.”
