Libyan MPs demand clarification on UN involvement in new Al-Sarraj-Erdogan deal

The Address | Benghazi – Libya

TRIPOLI – Two members of Libya’s parliament have demanded a clarification from the United Nations Mission in Libya over the Mission’s presumed involvement in a new deal between Turkish President Recep Erdogan and Prime Minister of the Tripoli-based Government of National Accord (GNA).

This comes a few days after Erdogan himself stated that he struck a new deal with Al-Sarraj “with the UN’s participation”.

In a joint statement released on Sunday, Libyan MPs Eissa Al-Arebi and Ziyad Daghim said that the UN must remind [GNA’s] Presidential Council that it doesn’t represent Cyrenaica… any agreements must require the full authorization from the House of Representatives according to the political agreement”.
