Egypt’s Defense Council calls for end to foreign interference in Libya

CAIRO – Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met today, with the country’s National Defense Council to discuss the overall political, security and military situations within the framework of developments of the various current challenges on the regional and international arenas.

According to a statement by the Egyptian government, the Egyptian President discussed developments in Libya, in light of Egypt’s efforts in bringing peace between all Libyan parties, taking into account that Libyan security is an integral part of Egyptian and Arab national security.

The Council affirmed its commitment to a political solution as a way to end the Libyan crisis, in a manner that achieves preserving the sovereignty and national and regional unity of the Libyan state, as well as putting an end to illegal foreign interventions that in turn contribute to exacerbating the security situation and threatening neighboring countries and international peace and security.
