Egypt’s parliament backs troops deployment

CAIRO – The Egyptian parliament unanimously agreed on Monday, to deploy Egyptian troops on combat missions outside of Egypt to defend Egyptian national security against armed criminal militias and foreign terrorist elements.

The Egyptian Parliament held a closed-door session attended by 510 lawmakers to consider approving the deployment of Egyptian troops abroad.

The session reviewed the outcomes of the meeting of the National Defense Council held on Sunday, headed by President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, and the threats that the country face as the battle for Libya’s Sirte looms.
