EU calls for returning to negotiations and ending military activities in Libya

The Address | Benghazi – Libya

BRUSSELS – The European Union Mission in Libya stressed in a statement Tuesday the need to stop hostilities in Libya and return to the political track.

The statement stressed the need to stop calls to fuel war by regional players in the Libyan conflict, in a clear message from the European Union that was the focus of the recent statement of the European Mission in Libya, which indicated that the threats to resort to military intervention are dangerous, and exacerbate the direct confrontation between the Libyan parties and will lead to further escalation.

The statement said that the only response that is in the interest of Libya, Libyans and the region as a whole lies in increasing collective efforts towards a political and negotiated solution, and stressed that the European Union countries take strong commitments within the framework of the Berlin process supervised by the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL).
