Turkey has confirmed that it will not hesitate to “take the necessary measures” in Libya to support the Government of National Accord in Tripoli, stressing that it “will continue to stand with the Libyan people against any form of tyranny, and will not hesitate to take the necessary measures.”
This came in a statement issued after a meeting of the Turkish National Security Council chaired by President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
The statement said that Turkish officials discussed “initiatives doomed to failure by third parties dreaming of benefiting from the chaos to advance their interests with the coupists,” noting that the Turkish government reaffirmed its “absolute determination to defend its rights and interests in the eastern Mediterranean.”
The statement reiterated that “Turkey continues to stand with the Libyan people against any aggression targeting it,” noting that Turkey “will continue its military operations outside the country against terrorists under the rights emanating from international law.”
