The Address | Benghazi – Libya
MOSCOW – Egyptian Ambassador to Russia, Ihab Nasr, expressed Tuesday his country’s hope that all Libyan parties would respond to the Cairo Declaration, explaining that the Egyptian efforts have never stopped to activate the political process again.
Nasr said in a statement to Sputnik that the Cairo Declaration was a Libyan initiative sponsored by Egypt, but its aim was to present a vision for the future of Libya.
He added that it is a vision for political negotiations that would reach a solution that satisfies the Libyans, and this announcement reflects Egypt’s keenness on the stability, unity, and integrity of Libya.
He stressed that “the Egyptian efforts have never stopped and continue, and we hope that all parties will respond to this initiative.”
In June, Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi announced that an initiative had been reached to solve the Libyan crisis, after a meeting in Cairo with the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aqila Saleh, and the General Commander of the Libyan National Army (LNA), Field Marshal Khalifa Hifter.
