The Address | Benghazi – Libya

BRUSSELS – A spokesman for the European Union, Peter Stano, stressed on Wednesday that “resolving the Libyan conflict is the primary key to overcoming the migration problem there”, adding that the EU’s top priority in Libya is to resolve the crisis, which will then lead to solving the remaining challenges, including the migration crisis.

In a statement to Italian news agency Aki, Stano noted that “the European Union is not a field party in Libya, but rather works with all partners, including the High Commissioner for Refugees. And the Libyan authorities to close [detention] centers. ”

Stano explained that the European Union “works to deal with the problem of migration from its deep roots, in cooperation with countries of origin and transit in several tracks, including controlling borders.”
