Misrata declares a state of emergency and closes its land borders to try to control the Coronavirus

The Misrata Municipal Council declared the state of emergency in the municipality and closed the city land entrances, except for urgent medical cases as part of attempts to control the accelerating spread of the Corona epidemic in the municipality.

In a statement, the Municipal Council said that it had taken several measures due to the worsening epidemiological expansion of the Corona pandemic and as a complement to the series of publications and decisions issued by the Municipal Council and the Supreme Committee for Crisis Management and Response to confront the Corona pandemic in the municipality.

The Council called for the cooperation of everyone in order to limit the spread of the virus, calling on all officials of institutions, public, and private bodies and citizens “to understand the dangerous situation that the country is going through in general and the Misrata Municipality in particular, and the required cooperation, each in its field, with the Crisis Management teams in the municipality for everyone’s safety.”
