CAIRO – Egypt’s Minister of Foreign affairs Sameh Shoukry discussed on phone with Spanish counterpart Arancha Gonzalez Laya the latest political developments in the MENA region, especially regarding the Libyan situation.
According to the Egyptian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Ahmed Hafez, Shoukry reviewed the Egyptian stance regarding reaching a comprehensive and sustainable settlement to the Libyan crisis by stabilizing the ceasefire and continue efforts to activate the “Cairo Declaration”.
Shoukry also stressed the need to firmly confront all transfers of terrorists and fighters into Libya, along with rejecting all foreign interventions.
For her part, Minister Gonzalez Laya emphasized the importance of containing all escalations in the Eastern Mediterranean Region and the need to respect the rules of international law and the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea, while giving importance to the stability of the situation in the Eastern Mediterranean.
