Tunisian Army stops 8 smuggling cars on the Libyan border

TUNISIA – The Tunisian Ministry of Defense announced that the military units of the governorate of Tataouine managed on Friday night to stop 8 smuggling cars in the border region with Libya.

The ministry said in a communiqué that the operation resulted in a soldier being shot at the leg level, where he was transferred to the local hospital in Tataouine and that his condition was stable, pointing out that there was an exchange of fire shooting with another group of smugglers who were stationed in the Libyan territory and started to shoot at the military formation in an attempt to cover up on these cars and protect them as they were trying to enter Tunisia.

It also added that the operation resulted in the arrest of 11 persons, who were handed over to National Guard units to complete legal procedures in their regard, in addition to seizure of large quantities of smuggled goods.
