LNA targets boat that violated maritime zone

RAS LANUF – The Libya National Army (LNA) targeted a boat carrying dozens of Syrian mercenaries, which violated the maritime zone near Ras Lanuf.

According to LNA spokesman General Brigadier Ahmed Al-Mesmari, the boat entered the maritime zone on Sunday. After failing to comply with several warnings from LNA’s navy, the boat was hit with an missile strike.

LNA carried out search and rescue operation to find survivors “without any positive results so far”, Al-Mesmari said.

The LNA spokesman added that the boat wreckage was found near Ras Lanuf coast.

He pointed out that prior to targeting the boat, the Tripoli-based Government of National Accord (GNA) announced that the 20 Syrian mercenaries are wanted for attempting to escape to eastern Libyan on a stolen boat.
