TRIPOLI – Foreign Minister of the Tripoli-based Government of National Accord (GNA), Muhammad Siala, discussed with the Italian ambassador to Libya, Giuseppe Buccino, “the possibility of activating the Libyan-Italian treaties” and the migration file, according to the ministry.
The ministry stated on its Facebook page that the meeting between Siyala and the ambassador, which was held at the ministry’s headquarters in Tripoli on Tuesday, dealt with “coordination between the two countries in the issue of illegal migration and the mechanisms taken in this regard.”
It added that the meeting also touched on “the Libyan-Italian treaties and the possibility of activating them, especially with regard to the construction of the highway linking Ras Ajdir at the Tunisian border and Musaed at the Egyptian border, and the extent of activating this treaty, even partially.”
It indicated that the Italian ambassador to Libya, for his part, emphasized the strength of the bilateral relations between the two friendly countries and working to strengthen them in accordance with the interests of the two peoples.
