MOSCOW – Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov announced Tuesday that the aim of the efforts in Libya should be to restore the state and its sovereignty.

Lavrov said, during a press conference with German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas: “We also have a common interest in resolving the crisis in Libya. We reaffirm the commonalities between Russia and Germany’s approaches regarding a political solution to this conflict on the basis of the principles contained in the final documents of the Berlin Conference that were confirmed by the UN Security Council resolution, ”according to Sputnik.

Lavrov added, “We proceed from the premise that the ultimate goal of all our efforts must be to restore the state’s sovereignty and the territorial integrity of Libya, which was flagrantly violated as a result of the NATO adventure in 2011 in violation of a UN Security Council resolution.”
