French Ambassador to Cairo: Turkey’s agreement with GNA is null

CAIRO – The French ambassador to Cairo, Stephen Romatier, said France had denounced the agreements signed by Turkey regarding the delimitation of the maritime borders with the Tripoli-based Government of National Accord (GNA), stressing that this agreement is “null and void.”

Romate added that the European Union is concerned about the energy issue in the Eastern Mediterranean, noting that Greece and Cyprus are important countries.

The Ambassador confirmed in a press statement that his country is already observing a number of behaviors and unilateral actions undertaken by Turkey, that France also noted that there are a number of unilateral measures taken by Turkey in the field of oil exploration, indicating that these actions increase tensions existing in the region.
