400 Syrian mercenaries trained in Qatar to be transferred to Libya – Syrian Obervatory

The Address | Benghazi – Libya

LONDON – The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights revealed that Qatar is housing 400 Syrian mercenaries to train them in preparation for transferring them to Libya.

The director of the Syrian Observatory, Rami Abdel-Rahman, had revealed the details of the method used by the Turkish intelligence to deceive the Syrian mercenaries, indicating a Qatari role in training them before sending them to the fighting fronts in Libya.

The director of the observatory said in a press statement Saturday that Turkish intelligence deceived about 120 fighters of the pro-Ankara Syrian factions, and agreed with them that they were wanted to protect civil institutions in Qatar.

However, the mercenaries who left the Syrian region of Afrin to Turkey, later learned that their true destination was Libya, not Qatar, with the aim of supporting the extremist militias of the Tripoli-based Government of National Accord led by Fayez al-Sarraj.

He added that there are about 400 mercenaries there for months, receiving training at one of the military bases with Qatari funds.

The director of the observatory indicated that the number of mercenaries recruited from all factions who were sent to Libya exceeded 17 thousand, Some of them returned to Syrian territory after they were satisfied with the money they obtained.
