The media advisor to the President of the Libyan House of Representatives, Aguila Saleh, said that Saleh was “ready to meet” with the head of the Tripoli-based State Council, Khaled al-Mashri, in Morocco.

“The President of the Parliament welcomes meeting with Khaled al-Mashri as soon as possible,” the media advisor of Saleh said in press statements on Thursday. He indicated that there are efforts being made by Morocco, under the auspices of King Mohammed VI, to advance diplomatic efforts to resolve the Libyan crisis.

For his part, Khaled Al-Mashri declared in press statements that he was ready to meet with the President of the Parliament as part of the efforts made by Rabat to solve the crisis.

Al-Mashri added that he visited Morocco last July in conjunction with the presence of Saleh there, and that he then expressed his readiness to meet him, “provided that this meeting is public, in the presence of the Moroccan brothers, and with international guarantees.”
