CAIRO – The Egyptian Foreign Minister, Sameh Shoukry, and the Acting Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations in Libya, Stephanie Williams, met in Cairo on Sunday to discuss the situation in Libya.
The meeting touched on the latest political and accelerating field developments in the Libya, and the vision on ways to reach a comprehensive political settlement of the crisis, according to the Egyptian Foreign Ministry statement.
The UN mission confirmed that Williams held a meeting yesterday, upon her arrival in Cairo, with the Minister of Public Intelligence, Major General Abbas Kamel, where the two sides discussed the situation in Libya and ways to stop escalation and an urgent return to a comprehensive political process under the auspices of the United Nations.
Williams noted Egypt’s positive role in dealing with the outcomes of the Berlin conference and communicating with all Libyan parties.
