GNA faces corruption charges before Libyan court

The Address | Benghazi – Libya

TRIPOLI – Northern Tripoli’s Court of First Instance has subpoenaed the Prime Minister of the Government of National Accord (GNA), Fayez Al-Sarraj, and other ministers and officials to investigate corruption charges regarding budget spending.

This comes after members of Ain Zara’s Municipal Council accused GNA of inadequate budget spending and called for investigation.

GNA has come under extensive public scrutiny over the last few weeks following massive demonstrations which called for the Tripoli-based government to be overthrown over its corruption.

Al-Sarraj and other powerful GNA figures enjoy self-bestowed impunity and it is unlikely that they will comply with the court.
