Egypt, France carry out joint military exercises in the Mediterranean

CAIRO – The Egyptian and French navies carried out joint naval exercises transiting the range of the Northern Fleet in the Mediterranean.

The military spokesman for the Egyptian Armed Forces, Brigadier General Tamer Muhammad Al-Rifai, said that “this comes within the framework of the plan of the General Command of the Egyptian Armed Forces, to upgrade the level of training and exchange experiences with the armed forces of brotherly and friendly countries of the Republic of Egypt.”

Al-Rifai explained, “The exercises included many different training activities, including safe-zone training, protection against the threat of submarines at night, electronic warfare training, training on defense against atypical threats, as well as training on various sailing formations in addition to implementing signal transportation exercises.”

These exercises come within the framework of supporting the pillars of joint cooperation between the Egyptian and French armed forces, and getting acquainted with the latest systems and methods of combat, which contribute to refining combat skills and experiences and supporting the efforts of maritime security, stability and peace in the Mediterranean,” Al-Rifai said.
