The National Center for Disease Control of Libya has reported 1,076 new COVID-19 cases, the second-highest daily increase so far, raising the total number in the country to 41,368.
The new cases were detected after 3,694 suspected samples were tested, the Center said in a statement.
In addition, 323 more patients recovered and five others died from coronavirus, bringing the number of recoveries and death toll to 23,453 and 621 respectively, the Center added.
Libyan authorities have taken a series of precautionary measures against the pandemic since the first case was reported in March, including closing the country’s borders, shutting down schools and mosques, banning public gatherings, and imposing a curfew.
