Akar receives Al-Haddad at the Turkish Ministry of Defense headquarters in Ankara

Turkish Defense Minister Hulusi Akar received the Chief of Staff of the Libyan Government of National Accord, Mohamed Al-Haddad, at the Ministry of Defense headquarters in the capital, Ankara.

The Turkish Ministry of Defense said in a statement that Akar congratulated Al-Haddad on his appointment as Chief of General Staff during the meeting, during which views were exchanged on the latest developments in Libya.

The statement added that Akar stressed during the meeting “the depth of friendship between Libya and Turkey, which extends to 500 years of brotherly relations,” pledging to continue providing “support to Libya and the Libyans.”

“Turkey will work with the Libyans to achieve stability in the region and will continue to do so on the basis of understanding to maintain a united, stable, and sovereign Libya,” Akar said

He stressed that Turkey would continue to provide “support, consultations, and field military and security training in the context of the agreement with the legitimate Libyan government recognized by the United Nations.”
