TUNIS – United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres called Monday on the international community to support political solutions in Libya.
In a recorded speech broadcast during the opening ceremony of the Libyan Political Dialogue Forum in Tunisia, Guterres said that today’s meeting was to reach a new formulation in which peace and stability prevail in Libya,” noting that the opportunity was available to end the tragic conflict in Libya and create a future of dignity and hope.
The signing by the Libyan parties of the ceasefire agreement in Geneva was a fundamental step forward,” Guterres continued, addressing the participants in the dialogue forum, “It is your turn to shape the future of your country.”
“Your commitment to this process will contribute to the restoration of Libyan sovereignty and the democratic legitimacy of the Libyan institutions,” he added.
