Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, General Commander of the Libyan National Army, has demanded the security authorities to arrest the murderers of the lawyer and activist Hanan Al-Barasi, who was assassinated yesterday on 20th Street in Benghazi, after gunmen shot her and fled in three unidentified vehicles.
According to a statement by the LNA spokesperson, Field Marshal Haftar’s demand came after “a lengthy meeting” with the Chief of General Staff, Chairman of the Supreme Security Committee of Benghazi, Lieutenant-General Abdel Razek Al-Nadouri, and Ibrahim Boushnaf, Minister of the Interior.
“The General Commander has stressed the need to intensify efforts to arrest the perpetrators and strike with an iron fist all those who hinder the security of the homeland and the citizen.” The statement added.
Field Marshal Haftar “confirmed that all the capabilities required to accomplish this will be placed at the disposal of the security services.” He also stressed that “no one is above the law or claiming to have influence that enables them to carry out violations.”
“Anyone who commits a crime threatening the security of the homeland and the citizen must be arrested.” Him and hold him accountable.” Haftar said according to the statement.
