TUNIS – The United Nations Acting Special Representative, Stephanie Williams, has banned Libyan delegates, taking part in the Libyan Political Dialogue Forum (LPDF) in Tunis, from using WhatsApp and Viber, according to press reports.
This comes after the leak of news on alleged disagreement between the delegates on the criteria and mechanisms for forming a new government during Saturday’s eight-hours-long discussion.
The six-day forum kicked off last Monday in the Tunisian capital of Tunis, with UN Acting Envoy Williams and other 75 representatives attending the event.
The forum’s overall objective is a consensus on a unified governance framework to “restore Libya’s sovereignty and the democratic legitimacy of Libyan institutions”, according to a statement by the UN Support Mission in Libya.
The Libyan representatives agreed during the forum to form a new government ahead of holding elections in December next year.
