The UN envoy to Libya, Stephanie Williams, announced the launch of a process to unify the Petroleum Facilities Guard.
Williams confirmed in a press conference that another project will be launched as a model to protect an oil field, which will start production next year.
The UN envoy added that the United Nations supports all oil companies that contribute to Libyan oil production, in accordance with the country’s sovereignty.
The Petroleum Facilities Guard in Libya is divided into small military groups from the east, west, and south, the largest of which is the one in eastern Libya under the Libyan National Army. Small groups of Petroleum Facilities Guard are stationed in the south and west of Libya, each affiliated with different tribal and local leaders.
