Egypt, Saudi Arabia: We reject interventions that support terrorism in Libya

CAIRO – Political Consultation Committee, between Saudi Arabia and Egypt, issued a statement on Tuesday, in which it affirmed the two countries’ rejection of regional interference in the internal affairs of Arab countries, and the importance of ensuring freedom of navigation in the Arabian Gulf, Bab al-Mandab Strait and the Red Sea, in addition to rejecting foreign interference in Libya.

The statement issued by the Political Consultation Committee stressed Cairo and Riyadh’s rejection of regional interference in the internal affairs of Arab countries and attempts to destabilize the security and stability of the region, according to Sky News Arabia TV.

The two sides pointed to the need to preserve the stability, unity, and territorial integrity of Libya, rejecting foreign interference in its affairs and attempts to destabilize the internal and regional conditions by supporting terrorism and extremism.

The two countries stressed the importance of the Arab role and the role of the Arab League in resolving the region’s crises, within the framework of relevant international resolutions and in accordance with the principles of international law. They also expressed the importance of strengthening joint Arab action.

Saudi Arabia and Egypt stressed their position in support of a comprehensive political solution, in accordance with what was agreed upon in the Berlin conference and the Cairo Declaration issued last June, and their support for rebuilding the Libyan state and its institutions.
