BENGHAZI – The Spokesman of the Libyan National Army (LNA), Major General Ahmed Al-Mesmari, said Monday that “instructions and orders were issued to all LNA units to be on a high level of caution,” in a statement regarding the development of the field situation in the areas of contact with armed militias.

Al-Mismari added, “The army affirmed its commitment and adherence to the ceasefire agreement, which was reached within the framework of the 5+5 committee in Geneva under the auspices of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL).”

Al-Mismari added, “LNA expresses its concern about the growing number of militias affiliated with the unauthorized Government of National Accord (GNA) in Tripoli and Misrata, in addition to the transfer of militias, weapons and military equipment towards the front lines west of Sirte and Al-Jufra.”

“Instructions and orders were issued to all units to be on a high level of caution, and not to be drawn into provocations that could lead to an escalation of the military situation,” LNA Spokesman stated.
