UNHCR: 119 migrants rescued off Libya, returned to Tripoli

TRIPOLI – The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) confirmed that the Libyan Coast Guard rescued 119 refugees and migrants off the Libyan coast and returned them to Tripoli.

UNHCR said in a statement Monday that the Libyan Coast Guard had returned another boat, was about to sink, with about 40 migrants on board.

UNHCR clarified that its partner International Rescue Committee (IRC) provided the necessary assistance to all survivors after their return to the port of Tripoli.
