After Rome, Al-Sarraj is expected in Ankara, says Italian news agency

ROME – The Prime Minister of Libya’s Government of National Accord (GNA), Fayez Al-Sarraj, is expected in Turkey as soon as he ends his visit to Italy, Italian news agency Nova reported on Friday.

The 60-year-old premier met with his Italian counterpart, Giuseppe Conte, yesterday to discuss the ongoing peace negotiations in Libya, according to a statement by the Italian government.

Nove reports that, after Italy, Al-Sarraj will join some members of his cabinet who arrived in Ankara few days before he would.

GNA’s Ministers of Interior and Defense Fathi Bashagha and Salah Al-Din Al-Namroush, the Head of the High Council of States Khaled Al-Mishri, and a number of militant leaders left Libya in the past 72 hours to meet with Turkish officials.

According to Nova, Ankara is assembling Tripoli’s political and militant leaders for an “expanded security meeting”.
